Malaysia is known as one of the best countries for tasty food and on my holiday i plan to try and find some of the best foods. When i was planning my trip i booked my hotel then after booking the hotel i knew that the next step would be finding some good lunch spots around the area. The hotel i was staying at was in little India, the thing to do in little India seems to be going to whats known as banana leaf restaurant. Banana leaf meals are fairly common all around Malaysia and you pay a flat rate for unlimited rice and vegetable curries and then you can supplement that with various fish and meat curries. I figured that a big plate of rice and vegetables would be a perfect antidote to the anemic plane food.
I checked into my hotel in humid and steamy KL, i was pretty hungry so pretty much straight away after checking in i went walking around little India to find somewhere for lunch but there was an issue. In the 5 minutes that it took me to check in to the hotel it started to do something that is completely Malaysian, it started to pour with rain! Afternoon little monsoon sessions are fairly commonplace, however after it finished raining it cools everything down for the night ahead. Still i was enjoying walking through the rain, i then stumbled across a place called restoran kaveri that i thought i would try out.
It was a very tasty looking and smelling restaurant but i have to say that the service staff weren’t completely friendly, they spoke rudimentary English however they weren’t that patient with me when i was fumbling with looking over the Malaysian menu, they just assumed that I wanted a vegetarian banana rice set even though there were a few other things i also wanted to order from the menu.

My food arrived on a banana leaf with a fork and spoon, however looking around the restaurant i noticed that most of the people were eating with their hands so i decided to join in and give it a try (this was my first time eating with my hands)! As i mentioned before the service staff here weren’t fantastic so while i asked for tips i didn’t get a whole lot in return. I don’t think i did too bad considering! The actual meal was really tasty, there was a lot of rice! I also appreciated how each curry had a slightly different flavour, my favourite was the spinach and tamarind curry with chilli on the left.
To go with the delicious curry i decided to go for a lime juice which was extremely refreshing in the humid weather and wouldn’t be the last lime juice i have on my holiday.
After finishing my meal i relaxed and waited for the rain to subside. While I waited i contemplated what my next delicious meal would be on this holiday.
