Restoran Dragon View, Kuala Lumpur Malaysia

Apr 25

SONY DSCThe first time i went to KL back in 2009 i found this amazing place for wantan noodles. Unfortunately i found it on the last morning before I was heading back to Australia. I remember thinking to myself if I ever was to go to KL again that i would go back to the same wantan mee place. My recent trip has provided me with the ability to fulfill this thought. I remembered the exact location of the particular restaurant so I set out at about 8am in search of the restaurant and it’s still there! Read more →

Sayers cafe, leederville

Mar 18

SONY DSCA has been talking about going to Sayers coffee for a little while. When she mentioned to me that she wanted to go I decided to do a little bit of research and it seems like Sayers is a little bit of institution with many of my favourite bloggers loving this particular restaurant. I took a few hours off on a Friday and we tried out the breakfast offerings here. Read more →

Il Lido, Cottesloe

Mar 12

There is a particular tradition that A and I have started doing recently and that is going to the beach for at least one day every morning. It is a really great way to wake you up and give you enough energy for the rest of the day. The other day A mentioned to me a fantastic idea where we could go to Cottesloe beach for a swim and then maybe have some breakfast after that. I thought that this was a fantastic idea! So fast forward to Saturday and we have had our fantastic swim and we are looking for somewhere to go, We walk along Marine Parade and we are greeted with a nondescript corner cafe with only a small sign at the top of the building with the words ‘il lido’. We decide to give it a try. Read more →

Chow Kit Hawker centre, Malaysia

Mar 03

When I was planning my most recent trip to Malaysia I knew that I wanted to do one thing and that was to go to one of the traditional wet markets of Malaysia. These wet markets are a fantastic insight into how a lot of people live their day to day lives in Malaysia, interestingly the term ‘wet market’ comes from the fact that they use water to wash the floors and keep all the meat and fish fresh. The closest wet markets to my hotel in Kuala Lumpur were at Chow Kit which was only 3 stops away on the efficient monorail. I headed out their early one morning in anticipation. Read more →

Leapfrogs cafe, Wanneroo

Nov 05

I have recently moved house and I am now residing in the north of the river. This has opened up a whole new world of dining experiences to me. I am going to explore and maybe find some hidden gems in suburbia. The first place I tried after moving house was suggested by A, she said “why don’t we do some shopping at drovers and maybe get some breakfast from leapfrogs cafe”. This was a plan that I was more than on board for. Read more →

Dong Ji Char kway teow, Singapore

Aug 19

When i was researching the Singapore leg of my trip I knew that I wanted to have quite a few meals at hawker centres in the city however with so much choice I wasn’t sure where was the best. After looking around some various blogs I found that the old airport road hawker centre is consistently in the top hawker centres of Singapore. With this in mind i boarded Singapore’s's excellent public transport system on my way there one morning. Read more →

Asam Pedas Selera Kampung, Melaka

Jul 02

Before i get to the breakfast part of this review i have a little story to tell. The night before i was using the hotel wifi to look around and find a place to have breakfast the following morning. On google maps i saw that there is a jetty that is a bit like canary wharf where there are restaurants, bars and different things like that. That sounded fantastic so in my head i thought “This will be great, I will go for a little walk, have a great breakfast on the jetty looking over the straits of melaka and it will be a beautiful thing.” Read more →

A and I were pretty hungry one morning so i said to her “lets go out and get some breakfast”. The subject of where to go came up and she said that she remembered someone saying that boho espresso in Scarborough serves quite nice food. As we made our way there I also remembered hearing some people saying nice things about it too. Read more →

Tarts Cafe, Northbridge

Apr 11

I had been meaning to catch up with A on Sunday. I was being slightly indecisive with what to do so i left it up to her to choose, her response was “why don’t we go to my favourite breakfast place, it’s this little place tucked in the outskirts of northbridge called tarts cafe”. I agreed on going there, normally I do as much research as possible before going to a restaurant but this time i decided to go to tarts without knowing anything about the menu. Read more →
